Configure Patient Message Defaults

Set patient message channels and default text.

Configure patient message defaults when your practice wants consistent patient-facing notifications.

Who does this: Clinic administrators.

Steps

Open Settings.

Open Notifications.

Select Channels & Defaults.

Turn Email enabled and SMS enabled on or off in Channels.

Set Auto-send on intake creation.

Edit Initial email, Reminder email, and Completion email.

Edit Initial SMS, Reminder SMS, and Completion SMS.

Select Save changes.

Patient messages use the updated defaults.

Common pitfall: Keep SMS text short and link-focused.

Troubleshooting

Messages are not being sent. Check that the channel is enabled and the patient has the needed contact detail.

The wrong message appears. Check the matching initial, reminder, or completion template.
