Start a New Encounter
Start the clinical visit workspace for an appointment.
Start an encounter when the care team is ready to document a visit.
Who does this: Clinicians, with help from front desk staff when needed.
Steps
Open Encounters from the main menu.
Find the appointment or visit you want to start.
Open the encounter action for that row.
Review the appointment details if you are on the start page.
Select the start action shown for the visit.
The encounter workspace opens.
Tip: You can also start from a reviewed pre-visit page by selecting Start visit.
Troubleshooting
The visit is missing. Check the date filter and visit mode on Encounters.
The start action is unavailable. Confirm the appointment is ready and assigned to the right provider.
